Default I knew it was going to be hard.

I had some problem on my engine few weeks ago.
I was trying to make the honda plus to perform warranty work on my engine.
I agreed on few things before anything started.
The guy in the dealer told me that if warranty doesn't go through, I am responsible for $1000 labour for tearing down the engine for an inspection.
I was ok with that since engine had to be examined before anything can happen.

Everything went really well until 2 weeks ago.
I received a phone call from the dealer and they got a 'GO' from the honda.
They ordered a complete short block and new engine mount etc. (look at the terms I am using! I learnd so much from this experience. )
They reconditioned the head as well.
Everything was ready to be installed in my car.
'Brand new engine for free!!!!!'
However, I got another phone call last week and it was a disaster.
For some reason the second inspector came in and he declined everything.
I've been trying to get a hold of the inspector or anyone who was responsible to make that decision, but I only managed to talk to service department people in Honda plus warranty department.
They only said the second inspector made a decision already and that will be the final answer from honda.
I wanted to know exactly why this case went from 'Yes' to 'No' all of the sudden, but the guy could not get more information and he said he will get back to me.

So, I had to think about other possibilities, so I talked to the guy in the dealer about possible options I can take.

1. fix the whole thing in the dealer - $ 10,000 includes new clutch
2. get the car out of the dealer and pop in used s2k engine in somewhere else - $3000 to $4000 for used engine + labour (around $800) + the $ 1000 I agreed to pay in the first place for tearing down the engine + another $ 900 for reconditioning the head.

I was in disbelief when I heard the last part, that I have to pay for what they did on Honda's order without asking me.
I am still going to fight for the complete warranty work, but even my request gets declined there is no way I will pay for what they did to my car based on their mis communication.

I knew getting a warranty work on any engine is not easy, but this is far worse than I imagined.

Sounds about normal. I have a good buddy who is a mechanic for a Bay Area Honda dealer. He told me they have had several practically new S2000 engine failures come in (still under the warantee period) and not one has been approved. They just don't trust that these motors can fail due to manufacturing defects, they immediately suspect driver abuse, but then again, can you blame them?

I won't say I drove my s2000 like I drive my father's camry, but I did not ABUSE it.
If it was obvious abuse case why did it get approved in the first place?
I had this car less than a year now. Who knows how the previous owner used it?

It got approved in the first place because the dealer wanted 10 grand, they pushed to get it approved. If Honda trusted the dealership, they never would have sent out a "second inspector." The dealer figured they could get more money from Honda then they could from you and they don't give a rats ass where the money comes from.

As Navin Johnson so astutely put it, "It's a profit deal!"

I think its absolute garbage. As a manaufacturer you provide a high-performance engine to the customer, tell them to go use it as intended, then when they return after using it and experiencing failure, in many cases you y say something along the lines of "you abused it" or "You put a high-flow air filter on it." It's utterly ridiculous to me and I would not give up on fighting them.

OP made no mention of upgrades to his car even, just that it was refused based on a second review.

Unless there's damage to your oil pan or something from bottoming out then I don't know how they could justify it.

Did they describe the damage? Was it oil starvation?
