Default I know this is going to start a war but..

Which is better.. I dont care about the price.. I just want to know which of these have been known to produce the most HP w/ standard pulley's and normal adds like header and exhaust.. ... The reason I ask is simple..

According to Vortechs page they claim their kit produces 260HP and 170TQ with 7-8psi

According to Comptechs page they claim their kit produces 285.9 HP and 172.3 TQ w/ no After cooler .. BUT they dont say @ what PSI

SO......

If I look at this I would think Comptech is better persuming that they are both equal PSI... HOWEVER I'm told Comptech is actually less PSI ...

SO KNOW WHAT!!!!!!!

I need y'alls help.. Dyno's help and are welcomed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Neither SC makes 9lbs with the stock pulley. Both require a new pulley, belt and engine management to make this much boost. Both are very similar is power output, 280-300hp seems to be the range for both kits. (standard Vortech, non-aftercooled Comptech) I reccomend considering price, availability, ease of installation in making your decision.

The Comptech produces 5.4 psi stock. The Vortech is more like 7.

If you were to up any of these to 9 psi you would need all sorts of others tricks and bits to keep it together.

In conclusion, this is a very silly question.

If the war gets ugly, I'll close this.

ps. You won't get 9 psi boost with the "standard" pulleys.
pps. Vortech originally stated adding 108 HP to the crank (ie. 348). If they are now stating 260 at the wheels, then something has changed and as far as I know, nothing has.

I've heard the Vortech has a more 'efficient' compressor. I've also heard that the Paxton used by Comptech is 'better'.

Fortunately I didn't have to make this decision as the only available in my price range was a second hand Comptech.

However I am very happy with it.

BTW, Everyone on the board at the moment running 9psi on a Vortech is also using EMS. Price the Engine management options if you want this much boost with a SC.

The really strange bit of trivia is that Paxton is owned by Vortech.

I don't think anyone has even tried getting 9psi out of a non-aftercooled Comptech.

1RandyC had a Comptech with a custom FMIC and he tried various pulleys (I believe he went as high as 13psi) so you might want to ask him about his findings.

The standard Vortech makes more like 280-300. I got 297 on a Dynapack (I was stock except for the Vortech and a Tanabe Hyper Medallion exhaust) while on the same night another Vortech car made 319 with a Spugen exhaust and VAFC tuning.

I think when some of the guys who got their 9psi pulleys from this latest group buy get them bolted up and tuned you'll see some more results posted up

You will be happy with either system.

Vortech's lower price helped me fund other mods that I wanted.

I understand that more is needed to reach 9lbs of boost.. However I also understand that there are several members running smaller pulley and ems (or other Engine Software)..

Basically Im trying to decide between a Vortech or Comptech and then upgrading the pulley, injectors, and ECU to correctly run these systems..

I've always leaned more towards Comptech, but recently have noticed that there are many, many more Vortech kits out there...
