I miss my S2000
Some people commute in their sport cars because "they bought the car to drive" but here's how I see it.
Commuting in your sport car has these cons:
1. Racking up miles on your nice car
2. You have a much higher chance of an accident in commute traffic than other types of driving.
3. It's a monotonous, same-old/same-old drive and usually you can't have that much fun on a commute.
4. Fuel Economy
Pros to having a beater commute car:
1. For the price one accident in your S2000 will cost in insurance/deductibles and stress you could have bought a nice civic or corolla to commute in
2. compact econo cars can get 30-45 mpg commuting
3. insurance is dirt cheap liability only and you can name your commute car your main car which lowers the rate on the sport car. For me with Geico I pay less insuring 2 cars than I would if I only had the S2000.
4. Bad weather...no problem!
5. No stress about getting an an accident on your daily commute in traffic

^^ I must disagree. Cars are made to be driven, I don't mind putting miles on my S, though I do admit that it bugs me but not to the point were I rather not drive it. Accidents can happen to anyone at any given time whether you're driving your beater or the S. Now fuel economy isn't that bad on the S, considering my other vehicle is a frontier, that shit chugs fuel like i chug beer.
in a sense, i understand your view, i would love to to maintain my S with low mileage, but then again were's the fun in driving to work? the solution is buy a beater s2k and buy a garage keen s2k

I'm not talking about never driving the S2000. I don't commute in mine and still manage to put 5K-7K miles on it a year but all those miles I am enjoying it to the fullest because they are road trips, beach trips, car events, good weather to the mountains with the top down, etc. I just can't see the point in driving in traffic on a boring commute with no curves and racking up miles and stone chips in the paint that way. That's what beater cars are for.
i bought a beater car and ended up driving the s2000 everywhere, anyway, except when its snowing or i *need* to carry things/people
its just funner to drive
it racks up mileage? well, yeah, its a car, its meant to be driven

All the points are valid in my opinion. just depends on your needs. I have my s as a daily. 40 miles to work and 40 back a day. I enjoy driving the s and it feels like I blink and I am at work already. s2kftw!
I sold my 2002 S2k and got an Evo IX about 2 years ago and miss my S2k terribly. I'm very tempted to sell the Evo and pick up another S2k, especially now that I've relocated to the Dallas, TX area.
