Can't tell where you're located, but if you're anywhere near northern NJ I've got a great "beater" for you. Just putting my 86' Corolla in the paper tomorrow. She's been my daily driver for years, bought her from my grandmother around 10 years ago.
The car has pretty low miles, 104,000, and runs strong. It has the legendary L4 Toyota engine that is bulletproof. Never in an accident and never had any mechanical problems. It's not the SR5 model, it's the 4 door. Nothing sexy, just good solid transportation.
It's an great highway car, just took her back and forth to Pa. 2 1/2 hours each way 75+ mph the whole way and steady as can be.

i beat the CR@P out of my '88 Prelude. had it from '94-'04. had to replace the hoses once, and the clutch a couple times for my 90 mile round trip commute. that, regular service (oil changes, coolant flush, etc) and other wear-and tear items replacement was all i had to do to it.
something to look into!

I have a '96 Chevy Corsica that I put Eibach spings, Bilstein shocks, sway bars and bushings in that will take on almost anything. With the automatic, it's easy to drive in traffic, gets 26 mpg, and I hate to say it, will almost hang with the S on mountain roads. No one gives it a second look, and they sure won't steal it!

Why not keep racking up the miles on the S2000? A $1,000 beater could end up costing you more to maintain than driving and depreciating your S2000. Life is short, drive that sucker into the ground!
