I wouldn't mind but... driving in the winter is nearly impossible with the s2000!

I would avoid an older beater for safety reasons, and probably reliability reasons. Spend a little more and get a newer 2nd car for your daily commuter.

Newer cars have better safety features such as dual or even more airbags & ABS.
