Default I need everyones opinions

I have an ap1 with 55k that I bought about 10 months ago. I started modding it recently (coilovers/works) and realized that I'm going to be putting ALOT of money into this car. I have plans for FI, interior upgrades, lots of CF etc. But I'm worried about the fact that it has 55k on it. I know engines develop wear patterns. How will it take to a turbo/SC? I've gotten to a point career wise that I can finally afford to splurge a little so should I start with a new platform or keep the one I have? I had also considered picking up an E46 M3. Then I changed my mind and decided to sell the S and buy a 911S. But I keep coming back to the S in the driveway. I really think I'd rather mod a car to compete with the M3 or 911 (especially for the money that I'd spend on the 911, and I know I'd end up putting $$ into that too ) So bottom line is this, would you put a ton of money into a car that already has 55k on it, or break down and buy the 06 Laguna?

You seem to be all over the place. It might be better to use what you've got. 55k isn't that much mileage unless it's been abused. I wouldn't feel right about getting a brand new car and tearing it up, but it's your money, not mine! Good luck!

wow. me personally i would definitely get the porshe 911. s2k is a fun car to drive but still a teenie bopper. porshe 911 is just in a different league status. also much more of a CHIC MAGNET then the S. 55k miles isnt too much but by the time you reach about a 100, its going to have atleast minor problems here and there such as replacing some parts and what not. all in all, i guess its a personal preference. fixing up the S wouldnt be a bad idea too but i would definitely go for the porsche

I'm engaged so I can rule out the chic magnet factor lol. Another reason for shying away from the porsche is the fact that I don't have a garage. I would hate to see it out in the rain/snow etc. I think my car gets more looks at the traffic light then a stock 911 too. And that's the thing, I couldn't just buy a stock 911 and keep it that way. I'd be all about modding the porsche too, and that would break me. My girl tells me all the time that "you can't leave well enough alone".

I am a big fan of the 9K redline....but I would give that up for a brand new Laguna Blue Pearl. That color is pure sex....simply amazing paint.

Keep the one you've got. My fiance just got a new car, and was feeling guilty for some reason, and gave me the go ahead to get a new one. I thought long and hard about it, but just couldn't. I bought my '01 19 months ago, and I absolutely love that car. I still smile everytime I see it, and get a big ass cheesy grin whenever I sit in it.

Here's the best way to go

Keep what you got. Since your scared of the mileage and have the extra money.. Build the crap out of the motor in there now, then throw on a nice fat turbo with all the goodies
