There's not much to it. Just unscrew the shift knob and put some plastic wrap and tape over the handbrake handle to protect it. The console snaps right out, just lift up on it. When you get it loose, unplug the wiring connectors underneath the console.

that looks like AP2 console in AP1. all red leather interior is AP1 only. I like it! where did you get that?

according to the S2000 shop manual, the only way to completely get out the transmission tunnel cover/carpet is to take out the dashboard. someone else told me you need to cut it off. the guy who sold me the cf center console said it's easy but he never exactly told me how to do it. i'll ask him.

Sounds like I had the same problems as WashabiS2K. My 1st attempt at installing mine I tried fitting it over the carpet and then cut it down the middle and it fit, badly. A while later, on my 2nd attempt I did it correctly by removing the carpet. The cf console cover fit decent then. The oem console snapped in all the way and everything. Its extremely easy to remove the carpet. Just remove some plastic panels behind the seats, loosen the secret compartment, and the carpet comes out. You also want to remove the radio door assembly, which pops right out. I cut my carpet up a little to leave some of it intact around the area behind the seats. The CF console obviously doesnt wrap around like the oem carpet one. Hope this is of some help.

when you put the CF console on, did you start from the radio door side or the back side? I'm finding the e-brake to be a pain.

Mine was easy to install because I cut it down the middle so it wasnt a tight fit at all. I remember doing one side first and then the other. I had the pass. side down most of the way and then I stretched the driver side down. After it's on I could slide it around a little, to position it under the radio door and get all the holes lined up for the oem console to snap in. It did take me a few tries to get the console to snap in 100% though.

when you say that you cut it down the middle, did you cut it complete in 2 pieces, or did you leave the radio door side intact (the part that's exposed after you put on the console)?

I left mine in tack, and did not cut any pieces. I think it was recommended you start from the radio door and move backwards if i remember correctly. Just bend/peel back the bottom edges slowly and as soon as you get it wrapping around, it's all down hill from there. And yes, you'll need to remove the carpet.

I left the radio door side intact. I didnt cut it into 2 pieces. You can see in these pics where I cut it twice. If I would of removed the carpet to begin with I wouldnt of had to cut anything!
