UPDATE: just put it on this weekend. I decided to make the cuts suggested by NFRAP1, and it literally turned an impossible task into a 5 minute job. My center console piece is slightly different from the one pictured in NFRAP1's post. The rear end (or the end closest to the rear console) fits under the rear console, so the rear console had to be removed (or at least loosened). Having made the cuts, I was able to slide both sides in separately. When it's all said and done, the cuts are undetectable.

There's not much to it. Just unscrew the shift knob and put some plastic wrap and tape over the handbrake handle to protect it. The console snaps right out, just lift up on it. When you get it loose, unplug the wiring connectors underneath the console.

that is indeed one sick looking ap2 console

These instructions are very good. After trying to make it fit for a while, I figured I had to either cut it, or remove at least one seat and loosen the rear console. I just took the easy way haha. Honestly, after cutting it, it took 5 minutes.

i'll post final pics soon!

.... sorry to revive a super dead thread... BEST WAY (just finished doing it) is to take out the leather that covers the bare metal. and then install it.. no cutting to the cf center peice needed.
