The car does have a full warranty, but based on what I hear about their customer service it really doesn't matter. I also hear of them denying warranties because they think you were racing...

Stinkytofu, do you feel your issues were an isolated case? Or is it fairly common?

I would have to say my case was more of an isolated problem. The typical problems you will hear about evos are mostly transmission related.

I hear the clutch is a big issue...

Would you consider buying another one?

The 4g63 is stronger than any Honda motor I have ever seen.

But Im sure Honda does take the cake considering the rest of the car.

The 4G63 is a great engine, its everything connected to it thats the problem. With that said, I'd still consider going the Mitsu route again (4 years with DSMs).

Mitsu cars always seemed to be plauged by tranny problems. It should be alright if you treat is nicely and always use good fluids in it. Just don't buy an EVO expecting it to be a trouble-free daily driver. It will probably be a lot of fun, but it needs constant care and attention like a baby does Ignore it and it will find a way into your heart via your wallet

IMO, mitsu held back on the top end for a reason.

if mitsu felt they could reliably push the evo to 300+ they would. they don't like playing second fiddle to the STi at all.

the C&D long term test wasn't flattering at all. the maintenance is very expensive. of course, they also had the one lap vishnu evo do so well....but then again that was personally done by vishnu and the car did need parts replaced that mistu happily did. will they do the same for you? ha!
