Default I need to vent

So I dropped my car off almost three weeks ago at the mechanic. It took him a week to look at it. I had to keep calling asking if he looked at it and what was the problem. Finally he tells me it was the clutch and he's waiting for his guy to call him back. It takes another three days for his guy to call him back when he tells my mechanic he'd have to build a clutch for the s2k. He tells me he'll have it done last Tuesday. I call him Tuesday and he says he's waiting for the plate that it will be done on Thursday. I call him yesterday and he says the plate is shipping out and it will be here Friday morning and he'll have the car done tonight. I call him this morning and the plate still isn't there. He tells me to call him at 5. I call him at 5 and he says it is all done but he is having a problem with the clutch master cylinder. He says he'll call me back. He calls be back 45 minutes later telling me he is going to replace the cylinder and that he'll stop at Honda tomorrow morning. I call a couple of Honda dealerships and no one has a clutch master cylinder in stock and they'll have to order one getting it Tuesday or Wednesdays of next week. Not sure how he plans on getting one tomorrow. It just really pisses me off that it took him three weeks to get a clutch installed and then find out after the clutch is installed that the clutch master cylinder is bad too. Now I won't have the car back for over 3 weeks. I've got a turbo on it's way here, exhaust and cf hood waiting to be installed. It is driving me nuts!!!! Sorry I just need to vent, maybe I should go get a case of those new vented coolers.

The mechanic you used is an idiot and/or a liar. Never take your car there again. Post in your regional s2ki forum and ask for a recommendation for a decent mechanic.

If he had to order a clutch kit it should have taken a couple days to receive at most. I have no idea what he means that he needs to "build" a clutch for you. There is nothing he personally can "build". There are components he has to order, and a decent mechanic just orders a clutch kit that has all the components that need to be installed.

BTW...what clutch did he put in the car? If you have a turbo kit OTW, you will need an upgraded clutch to handle anything making over 300whp.

The guy who he buys his clutches from didn't have one for the s2k so they were building one for it. They're putting a stage 3 in with a ceramic plate.

I've gone to him before to do work and they do really good work, but this just really pisses me off and makes me not want to go back to him. He put a 3500 stall torque converter and rebuild my trans for my camaro and geared my wrangler.

That would have been nice info to have in the original post.

If he was doing something custom for you, then you're lucky it was only 3 weeks. If he is a shop that does lots of custom work...then you are lucky it wasn't 6 weeks. Welcome to the world of custom tuning...learn patients.

Custom work? He didn't do anything but have the company he get his clutches from make one. I did mention that.

Seems like they still have to custom build you one. I wouldn't rush anything that has to be ''specialty built''. Why didn't you just order the components and take it to a shop if you wanted it done quickly?

My buddy has not seein his nsx in alittle over a year. And a buddy is getting his wrx upgraded w/ a prototype turbo kit and has not had it back in about 6 months. So keep your pants on. I would have gone with a well known company clutch and brought it in. Faster and guaranteed to work well.

That is custom.

As compared to off-the-shelf, which would not have to made one-off...which is what your mechanic has done. One-off custom clutch.

idealy you should have mechanic that does most of your stuff...a neighborhood guy that you can trust and that you have a good relationship with, like a buddy...this way he doesn't screw with you...that's how i've got it...he does my tires, oil changes, brake and clutch, and mounts anything i can't do myself...

next time after you get a diagnosis, order the parts yourself if the guy doesn't mind (most of the time it's more of a hassle to get parts like that and he's prob not makin much on it)....get the parts yourself and save some money and then have him install them
