Default I need your help.

My car is in the hands of my dealership for the following reason. The Honda Tech line apparently is stumped. However, these guys are determined to find the bug, which shows me that they are good about making the customer happy & making sure the bug goes away. I wanted to know if anyone might be able to provide input towards a solution, so that I can relay it back to the guys and the honda tech line.

The problem:

Has only happened twice, early in the morning, when cold, engine will turn over, but sound like it is totally misfiring. At first sounded like something was broken inside, but not the case. Only the sound of bad repetive misfire. Check engine light will not only come on, but will flash. The wierd part is that after about ten minutes or so (warm-up?), the check engine light will stop flashing, but remain on and the mis fire goes away(engine sounds fine, but the check engine light remains on). The one time they were able to replicate it, the code returned was a mis-fire code, no surprise there. However they aren't getting much other bad info. from the ECU. Again, the Honda tech line is stumped as well. What do you guys think?

If your battery was disconnected, for anything, you readiness codes have cleared and have to be reset....see Helm 11-38. If the battery was not disconnected you may want to try the Pulsed Secondary Air Injection system, air control valve vacuum control solenoid valve or related No. 6 ACG 15 Amp fuse(Helm 11-28).

All of them? There are 4 coils right? Coil on plug, could one of those have failed?

I don't see how, but maybe morning dew (condensation) is getting into the intake excessively? Sure sounds a bit like water in the gas except it clears up?

A couple of weeks ago my car did the exact same thing but I did not wait long enough for the check engine light to come on. It happened when the engine was cold after sitting for a couple of days. When I first started it the car shook horribly. I instantly shut it down and restarted it and it was running fine. I haven't had the problem since. I'm curious as to what it was. Almost felt like a bad wire. I'm pretty sure it was electrical. When I have the first oil change, I'll explain it to Honda and have them run the codes. If you figure out what it is, please post a follow up.

Thanks,
John
