OMG
a sales rep actually telling the truth!
Seriously the way to tell when a sales rep is lying is to watch their mouth. If their lips are moving...

The general concensus (and my experience as well) is to deal with the Internet Sales Manager. You won't get any
, or high-pressure sales tactics.
My entire sale was done through email and over the phone. I ended up buying out of state.
Also, you can comparison shop that way. In my case, I just named the price. It turned out he couldn't meet it unless he gave me a color he had on the lot that I didn't want. In the end, I felt he was honest, and I got a good price.
G'luck.

A bit off topic, but try to buy your car on the last day of the month. I used to work for a dealer and there was a lot of pressure to make deals happen at the last couple days of the month as they need to meet or get as close as possible to their sales goals.
As pure coincidence, I bought my last car on dec 31st 2002 and I remember the price below invoice was so low, that they literally told me they didn't want to see me ever again inside that dealership...

haha, yes definately sounds like hes trying to make a sale. Salesman (well the majority) know absolutely no more than the consumer. Ive had salesman tell me that there was no changes from 03-04 or that the 04 came with 260bhp etc etc.
It infuriates me that these idiots usually know a lot less than their customers do. Though it would be alright if they just didn't know, but to intentionally lie makes me want to go back to that dealership and bitch slap the guy right now.
Depending on where you live, I always think May and June are the best driving months. Considering that June is almost over, I don't think it should be too tough for you to wait until October. October is a nice driving month as well and you can feel confident about your decision at that point.
