running a microfiber towel over rain water after it hasn't been properly washed will do more damage to your car than just leaving it in the rain then washing later.....

there's still a bunch of loose dirt settled on your car. running a towel over that will cause marring

sorry to tell ya

I forgot to mention that. You gotta wash the dirt off before drying, especially on black!

Head on over to the wash and wax forum and learn how to put that obsessiveness to good use.

Congrats. You drove home to scratch up your paint. Next time, just let it rain your car.

ive autocrossed the car in the rain while it was dirty and hit cones... happens a lot... ive got small scratches and cone marks but I dont care... i bought the car to drive and enjoy it... not look at it.

THat said... if you are gonna try to keep it perfect... a little obsession is a good thing... keeps you working at it and doin stuff right.

I have discovered that, as long as you stay above 55mph with the top down/off, only your forehead gets wet. Sounds like the plot for a new movie? Or not. Just don't slow down.

Having an S parked outside all of the time in Portland means it gets rained on, a lot. Yes, they melt when it happens but I've learned that you can just put the puddle of metal into a bucket, add some fiberglass hardener, and it'll inflate back up and be ready to go in about 20 minutes.
