why the 2002 S 2000 does not get the i-Vtec?? honda even put a 2.4L i-Vtec on the CR-V?!

 

It doesn't have it becuase it doesn't need it. I have 100% VTEC from 6500 RPM to 9000RPM. How is I-VTEC going to help? Why ask why? Do you know how VTEC/I-VTEC works or do you feel that the S2000 should have I-VTEC simply because the CRV has it?

Actually, the S2000 was supposed to be a candidate for what Honda had initially code named hyper vtec. I think development delays of the iVTEC system had something to do with it.

However, I would not be surprised to see iVTEC in a future S2000... - possibly with a 2.2l? But it probably won't happen till after an NSX with more than 290hp is introduced.

 

Really dont know the differences, I-vtec saves gas???

 

iVTEC gives you a fuller or flatter torque curve - basically, it gives you more torque in the lower rpm ranges compared to the regular VTEC engines. Max torque should not change by much.
