When did S2ki become so friendly? I recall a few threads back in the days bashing kids who ask for advice on convincing their parents to either buy the car or get an SC. It just seems odd to go on an online automotive forum to ask for parental negotiation advice.

I personally would do what I felt like doing and then see what happens later .

That was my method right up until I moved out at 19. Always worked well for me .

I give the OP props for posting his question but I wouldn't admit that I live at home and I'm still asking my parents for permission to buy things.

none of the problems in this thread have anything to do with wheels or parents

Buy a car cover? Seriously, I'm not kidding.

I had really strict Asian parents. Their "frugalness" costed us our family. I do not know your parents, but I wouldn't assume that their advice is good. We'd all be hypocritical to tell you to save money--any s2000 is clearly a luxury that we all gladly pay.

So I say get the rims if they really make you happy. Then park outside under a good high-quality weather-proof cover. Everyone wins.
