Until there is a better option/upgrade in the same price range. Which I'm honestly pretty sure isn't going to happen in our lifetimes. It's too good a combination of looks/performance/reliability/affordability. Nothing else has come close.
My sentiments, exactly. I got mine with pretty low mileage and under my self-imposed top price of $15,000. Used, but in terrific shape, except for needing new tires soon due to wheel alignments that were noticeably off after it was pointed out to me. She's a little roughed up due to spin out I had, but that was my fault. I need driving lessons. I have no plans to ever get rid of her.

I waited 10 years to get this car.. I never thought that I would have the opportunity to own one. I remember in +- 2006, local dealers were running a lease promo which was $0 down and payments of $399/month for three years, a period of time that I thought would be long enough to enjoy it and get it out of my system. I called my insurance guy and with a newly licensed 16 yr old driver on my policy, my insurance would have gone up $1,200 for the year so I passed on the lease. I finally bought one in 11/09 so it will be 3 years old in November. Recently, I have been having thoughts of selling it. It's true that every time I get in it, I feel like a million bucks and all my worries are forgotten. That said, the car now has just over 5,700 miles on it because there's just not enough opportunities to drive it. It's paid for and I could use the sales proceeds towards a kitchen/backyard remodel. I also received my $261 registration renewal in the mail yesterday which got me thinking. I'm conflicted. If someone approached me and offered a ridiculous amount of money for it, I don't know what I would do. I guess if I don't drive it too often and keep it safely locked inside of the garage, the odds of that happening are slim.

I wouldn't be able to sell a car like that based on sentimental value alone... Screw the gremlins!

Have had mine 9 years. Will keep it at least another 5. By then, I hope to be retired. The plan is to down size and move to a better climate. At that point, the S may go, as well as the winter car. I'll probably buy a new motorcycle to replace my VFR and my wife will get a convertible of some sort to replace our TSX.

I have been lusting after S2000's since their introduction. It was my dream car. About a year ago, I finally bought one.

This question made me think though. I don't have the skills, experience, or automotive intellect to maintain a car that is older than probably 20 years old or when OEM parts are hard to come by. None of my network of friends have the skills either, and the S2K community in my area is lacking to say the least.

The S2000 is one of those cars that I don't like fiddled with by just any auto mechanic. When I had new tires installed, I just stared at the mechanic, nose to glass, until it was ready. With this in mind, I don't see myself owning it in 10-15 years. That just makes me sad.

Coming up on two years of ownership in two weeks. I plan on owning an S for ever. Lately I've been thinking about getting a GPW AP1. Just have to hunt to the end of th earth to find one with low miles, under 40,000 mile is what I'm looking for. Or get an 08 GPW. But Still love me Rio.
