Thumbs up What will my S2000 be worth in 5 years?

I currently got an '06 with 38,500 miles on the odometer, which I bought for about 22k. I was curious what you guys think the car will be worth in about 5-6 years with about 80-100k on the odo, daily driven but not in the winter. I'm guessing the previous owner has driven in the snow/salt with the car, do you think this will cause the car to start rusting?

thanks

S2k's with over 100k go for $15K or less. What the market will be in 10 years? I have no idea. Depreciation cannot be predicted I think. As far as the salt, thats going to be a major issue later down the road if you don't get the underside cleaned very well. My father bought a 65 MBZ SL230 in 66. Drove it in Montana, an 20 years later....a lovely hole in the floor and frame due to the salt decades before.

People are having to give them away now, in 10 years we likely will have to pay someone to take the car off our hands.

Kinda sad.

My guess is that it will be worth less in 5 years than it is now.

in five years its a lot more affordable, but wait at least 30 years and the ones that are immaculate will probably ring close to what is is now or more.

considering there are quite a few s2000's on the road, the cars are going to become alot cheaper. Something like a 240x or z3, it will probably still keep a cult like status among its fans, but depreciation will take its toll.

I dont know if it will be worth the same value as it was when new, maybe something like a triumph spitfire?

I'm going to be optimistic and say that in 10yrs the price will level out and the car will become similar to the RX7tt. Good condition cars will fetch very decent prices ($18-$22k) and others will not go below $10k unless really beat.

I think this because of how much attrition we are seeing...lots of the cars getting totaled as they are falling in the hands of young inexperienced drivers.

And then in 20 years, with a hover-mod, they will suddenly become the "it" car to have. But only those with a Mr. Fusion will have the power to travel far from home.

It'll be worth less, eventually it may level out, who knows. I'd like to see it become somehwhat of a rarity which good condition ones going for a premium.

But you shouldn't buy a car based on what it will be worth in 5 years, buy a car that will make you happy and last as long as you want it to last. Thats my opinion anyways.
