Default I would like a coupe version of the S2K

i've been considering the s2k as my next car, but i don't really care for convertibles, i want it for the engine, handling, etc.

on one hand the s2k is designed as a pure sports car, on the other having a power-operated convertible top seems to contradict that intention.

i think honda should consider a lighter coupe version of the s2k for $4-5K less. i'd be all over that.

just go and buy yourself a hardtop like me, I LOVE IT!! i only taken it off 1 time since i bought the hardtop. I love the coupe feeling it would be interesting if Honda made a hard top version only. it would be maybe 1-2k dollars cheaper and also would be about 100-200lbs lighter.

I agree with bayarea408, go buy a hardtop!
You would have a great coupe (hardtop only weighs 44 pounds) and if you should someday decide, wow, I want to go topless, you would be all set!

because the car was designed from the ground up as a convertible a coupe version wouldn't save much if any weight. S2000 aren't braced structuraly as most convertibles are so there isn't much weight to remove. Also that throws out the thought of a cost reduction. To have a full hard top on the car that weighs the same or less than the VERY light for a power convertible top would almost make aluminum a necessity, again no cost reduction. Also, according to Honda the power top only added about 10 pounds to the weight of a manual top. For 10 lbs I'll take power please. Untill next time...

add hard top
take out soft top(frame, motor, etc)

you should net some weight savings

maybe you can put a sub where the soft top used to be...

I agree with a couple of you guys. I purchased my02' with the hardtop because most times I'd prefer the coupe feeling but on burning hot days a topless s2k is always good.

I would have preferred a coupe also but until they build one, the softop will do just fine.
