i've been noticing lately that the idle speed drops whenever i use the first gear in traffic and step on the clutch in traffic to put the gear in neutral. the engine's RPM goes WAY down, and the engine shakes as if it was going to stall, i have to step on the gas a little to keep it going. any ideas as to why it's doing that?

i've got 12K miles.

I recently dumped some coolant on my driveway (about a pint) and after driving a bit with it low I had the same problem. Very rough idle 500RPM and up and down. It went away after I topped up the coolant. Just something to check.

Cheers.

My coolant level is Ok but I have the same problem when the car is cold and a few minutes after it has reached three bars.

I have tried so many things, I don't know what it is. It could be the idle valve not being able to compensate quickly enough. I also will try the Iridium plugs to see if they are more capable than the stock ones to handle ignition in high compression engines.

Will see

Mingster, does your S2K have throttle body rebore? Some people reported idle irregularities after that was done; may go away later, too.

My Idle was bumpy for a day or so after the rebore, BUT now it actually Idles BETTER.
At a steady 1000rpm, before it idled at 800 and was week.

Mingster,

You might want to check the MAP sensor. Many of the people on this board that have had a hesitation or idle problem have found that they are caused by a bad MAP sensor. I'm not sure if its the same problem, but there are several threads about MAP sensor issues if you want more info (or you can email me, I think I qualify as an expert on this issue now).

Sounds like the 2000 models have not been great builds across the board.

Are any of the 2001 owners having any of the same problems?

Yes, my idle speed is around 750 and I feel like I have to feather it after I start out in first gear like it's going to stall. However, I didnt really notice this phenomenon until after I had the RM CAI installed. Anyone else with CAI experience this? [QUOTE]Originally posted by mingster:
