Default idle question....

i was sitting my in S with my friend today and i gave it some accel in neutral, only to 2-3k rpm and let go of the accel. when the revs dropped, my car shook like it was going to stall. does anyone know why it does that or is it normal?? btw we were just parked not moving or anything

Was the engine cold? If you press the accelerator, you typically disengage the auto-choke. But if the car isn't warm enough to idle, the RPMs will drop below idle, causing the choke to re-engage.

Pretty common, especially if the weather is changing. See if it goes away after a few days. The ECU may be adjusting to a temperature change. If it doesn't clear up in a few days whack the MAP sensor. (search for "Map sensor" for a how to)

I agree , as I had the same problem.. I couldn't even get through my first stop sign without the car stalling.. I eventually had to get the MAP sensor replaced, w/ a new throttle body.. so after a few whacks , you too may have to get it replaced.. not to worry as it's all warranty stuff..

Mine cuts off in the morning when I start it and it's below freezing. But only if it's been sitting for a week or something. The second time it's all good. Never bothers me... but it gives my chicks a reason to reinforce the fact that I should have purchased a bling bling SUV instead. They'll shut the hell up when the hot weather hits and they can slide around in the leather with the top down... stupid chicks.
