If the S2000 never existed........
Well I bought mine less than a year ago, and bought it used. I saved up since 8th grade or so, with an E46 M3 in mind. That fell short by about $10,000. So I was considering an IS300 with a Toyomoto/PFS turbo. I briefly considered an E36 M3, but wasn't touched like I was with the E46.
I actually didn't care too much for the S2000 last year. Mainly because the only one I ever saw was driven by a cocky high schooler (a grade above me) and he ruined it for me. But then he graduated, someone told me to look at it, and I bought one about 1 month later. Sure glad they told me to give it a chance!!!

In no particular order...
CELICA (THANK GOD, I was literally THIS CLOSE || to getting one.)
WRX (Everyone thinks it's ugly.)
350Z (Sexy. But We've had bad experiences with Nissan, and the convertable wouldn't be an option for me due to the price and ugliness.)

I would definately be driving a Lotus Elise right now if it wasn't for the S2K. About a year ago I had a E46 3 series and I ordered an Elise. In the mean time while I was waiting an eternity for the Lotus to come to the US I came across a brand new left over '03, which I couldn't pass up. I ended up liking the S so much that I didn't take delievery on the Lotus when it finally arrived. So without the S I would be driving a lotus, or maybe an EVO.
