ignition problem
About a week ago I was driving down the road in Atlanta and when I was leaving a stop light my car started to cut out. I really don't know how to descibe it. It almost felt as though while i was on the gas I was turning the ignition on and off. It just jerked really bad. I pulled into a parking lot and looked things over but to no avail. I started it back up drove home and it was fine for about a week. Now all of a sudden 2 days ago it did it again but really bad this time. Imagine stepping on the gas and turning the ignition off and leaving it off. That weird kinda hollow sound of it sucking air but nothing else happening (no spark). If I let off the gas it would start going again but it would start to stutter before too long. The only thing I can think of is the V-AFC maybe having a bad connection somewhere. Know now that this an intermittent problem as it didn't happen at all yesterday on my back home from Atlanta (almost 600 miles). I hope somebody can help, this is kind of embarassing.
I dunno why that never crossed my mind. I think I'm just scared about the fact that I bought this car used and for some reason I always assume the worst. I've never bought a used car before. Anyway I did it and the car ran fine all day today. like i said though, this an intermittent problem so we'll see if it gone for sure. I'm an avionics tech. and stray trons scare me
Problem: Loose spark plug connectors.
Solution: Make DAMN SURE your 4 spark plugs are connected very tight and very snug into their respective wires.
For example, if there is one wire loose, you'd lose a cylinder and only 3 cylinders would be firing, causing all kinds of havoc, such as the jerking and "on/off" symtoms you described.
Best bet is to take it to any mechanic...if you trust one. No need for a $500 fee from a Honda dealer. It takes less than 20 minutes to fix.
I had this same problem on my Accord.
