I wonder if this is the curse of the silver S2000s. They say silver is more invisible to other drivers. Do you drive with your headlights on at all times? I keep them on for just such an occasion. Sorry to hear about this.

sorry for what happened to your car. that exact thing happened to me months ago (luckily to the accord not s2k). they didn't have insurance and my insurance's uninsured motorist kicked in. allstate was trying to save a buck and not to total my car even my bodyshop thinks it is and the insurance appraisal is so close to a total.

u're lucky that his insurance is taking care of it. make sure you get a good bodyshop. your damage doesn't look that bad so i hope u'll your S running perfectly soon.

Nope. I sometimes turn them on early in the morning or at dusk in the evening. This accident happened at 3:00pm on a bright sunny day so I'm not sure if that would have helped.

I have thought about modifying the wiring so my high beams get 1/2 voltage all the time. That's how the DRLs are done on canadian S2000s. It's too bad we cannot get that simply by adding a relay under the hood (because that is all it takes on Toyotas to get DRLs). I have also thought about just having my front parking lights (since they are fairly large and bright) on all the time, but I hear that is techincally against the law is most areas.

This brings back bad memories. The good news is you weren't on a motorcycle when it happened and no one was hurt. Still sucks, though. Good luck in the body shop.

Glad you are OK though - it could have been alot worse. At least the damage seems pretty localized in one place and with a good body shop and meticulous repair, the car should be none the worse for the accident. I think there should be a federal mandate that sends idiots such as the one you encountered to pound me in the ass prisons for their transgressions for a week so they could have a chance to sit back and realize that driving IS a privilege (people must have this mindset), nothing more. That stunt he pulled could have seriously caused you injury or far worse. At least his insurance premium will go up but I don't know if that would be enough to teach him a lesson.

That's painful just to look at. Glad no one was hurt.

Having just your parking lights on (as DRL's) cannot be illegal. I don't know how many late-model Firebirds/Camaros/whatever they are that have their DRL's on and the DRL is actually the turn signal. When they turn their turn signal on, one of the DRL's starts blinking on that side. I've seen it many times before, so I know it's not just somebody 'ricing' out their burgermobile.
