you will most likely not get it to 17k. I bought mine from a dealer about 2 months ago. It had 45k miles, silverstone, certified, but the rest of the car was typical 5 years old (wear in carpets, little chips of paint, etc.) and they were asking about the same price as your dealer is and I only got them down to $18500. And that was because the car had been sitting on the lot for 5 months and the dealer wanted to sale to be in his month end figures.

You could probably get 17000, but not this time of year (convertible weather). If you wait til dead of winter.....maybe.

John

ps-private market is much cheaper with these cars, as they are niche cars. Look them up on autotrader.com.....there were a few for 17k when I was looking, but the certified warranty and the fact that the dealer was local sold me on the extra 1500.

That is too low miles to get for 17k. I got mine with 44,000 miles from a private seller (in immaculate condition) for 16,800 off of autotrader. I think the price they're asking with those miles is fair. I'd offer them 19k and see what they say.

Wis while he can find a better deal through a private seller no doubt... a certified car from a dealer is always going to be more expensive. Seeing the car's value from a retail standpoint, their asking price is definately high but not that unfair. I think 18-19 is a decent price for the car and they should take it if you offer it to them. If not, I'd look for some 02s in autotrader in your area that you can pick up for 20-22k.

certified for 17k is just not a viable option.

18500-19 maybe, but not in the summer, and ONLY if they have had the car a long time.

...I talked the dealer down to 18k for my 2002 s2000...It's sebring silver/black 39k miles...Well taken car of/ all maint records...They were asking 22,900...I got them down to 18 ...Actually my dad was doing the negotiating...I dont care if i'm how old I get HE WILL BE NEGOTIATING ALL MY CAR PURCHASES FROM NOW ON ....However I did opt for the additional 2 year 36k mile warranty for 2k extra...And its already paid for itself It covered a transmission a week after I got the car...and soon will be putting on a new canvas top because I just noticed a small wear hole on the passenger side ...Most people would hate to notice that...me, I'm glad because it will not be faded in any type of way and I can treat it so that it stays that way until I'm long gone
