I'm lucky to be alive.
I bought this car for it's performance around a track. My build has been focused around this. Tonight it saved my life.
Circumstances: late night drive, deer, rain and star spec's that are on there way out. To avoid the multiple deer, I lost control. After the third counter steer, I put it way in the ditch, bad. I'm 100% fine and I don't know how but the AP1 seems untouched besides a lot of mud.
I keep thinking about everything that happened. I did the best I could. The one thing I know for a fact is, that if the suspension was OEM, I would have spun out. Who knows what would have happened.
BE CAREFUL EVERYONE!!!

I don't mean to be rude but I think dumb luck saved your life. OEM suspension, I've tossed it around and never had the problems that would require an upgrade.
Sounds to me like you mixed bald tires and rain. I'm glad you're ok but let's not put too much into dumb hardware.

i learned the hard way about nearly bald tires and rain, hydroplaned on the highway and went backwards into a guard rail and wrote her off
apart from a sick staples on my head i walked away from the accident.
looking for a new s2000 now, but one thing i learned is how important tires are and i'll never try to stretch them out further than they should and i wont skimp out on good quality tires. and i've learned to stay off the highway when its raining too.
i'm one of the lucky ones, but its a lesson learned

Glad you are okay.
Moral of the story seems to be part of your thread subject line: we are all lucky to be alive.
Some days it is easy to forget that, and then we get a reminder. Life is short and can be taken from us very unexpectedly. Happens all the time, every day. So yeah...

Doesn't matter if people are tailgating me, if it starts raining I don't go over the speed limit. And if I can, I avoid the highway. Shifts are always done at 4K rpm. I'm really overprotective of my car in poor Driving conditions, but I prefer this way. There will always be another sunny day to enjoy the car on the next days.

How many times have you gotten up in the morning and said: "Gee, I am really sorry I drove so conservatively last night."
1. Had my 04 slide backwards down a hill into a ditch beside my driveway.
2. I thought I was on the driveway backing down, but I was off to one side
The ground was wet, so the tires just slide when I realized I was not on the drive, but beside it.
3. I could have had one wheel up on the colvert, and it could have flipped over.
4. There could have been water in the ditch from the rains from the day before, but fortunately the 2 ft. of water had drained away.
5. I had to let my car sit in the ditch all day, b/c I had to get to work, afraid to take the day off. (I know, seems stupid now, but people were losing there jobs and looking for any excuse to not renew contracts).
6. The car was wedged into the other side of the bank; I figured a back bumper that was cracked and split, muffler ripped off, etc.
7. When the wrecker pulled it out that afternoon after work: nothing, no damage, a little mud on the bumper.
8. the bank was evidently soft from the previous day/night's water draining through the ditch, so the muffler, muffler pipe, and bumper nestled in.
9. I was so happy at my good fortune. Needless to say, I look at both reflectors on the side of the drive now, not just one, since I thought I was looking at the reflector on the left, but I was seeing the one on the right, and was off the drive.

10 days into owning my first S2K, I've got the fastest car I've ever owned, and at the same time, I've become the most defensive driver I've ever been. I certainly have fun with it, but anytime conditions are less than ideal I keep off the throttle, shift at 4K, and let anyone who wants go around me. I already love it too much to risk it in the rain (I say while furiously knocking on wood and hoping I don't end up on a deer infested highway late at night anytime soon).
