I'm lucky to be alive.
10 days into owning my first S2K, I've got the fastest car I've ever owned, and at the same time, I've become the most defensive driver I've ever been. I certainly have fun with it, but anytime conditions are less than ideal I keep off the throttle, shift at 4K, and let anyone who wants go around me. I already love it too much to risk it in the rain (I say while furiously knocking on wood and hoping I don't end up on a deer infested highway late at night anytime soon).

Considering the probability of being alive in this day and age, it's truly a miracle. However, a little reminder on how expendable us humans can be is something else. The S2000 is an amazing machine, yet the it exploits the best of us during emotional times. I'm sure everybody is a little guilty of letting things get to us. Heck, I'm sure that's how some of you old timers discovered VTEC.
As far as defensive driving goes, we are in a jet fighter compared to most cars. The level of agility and responsiveness is truly beyond most cars out there. I can't tell you how many times I have found this car useful, wether it's braking on a dime, or trying to avoid a huge branch/tire on the road.

My personal favorite is from a Car & Driver article. "Speed does not kill. Irresponsible speed kills."

In my S2000, I will definitely drive a lot slower in the rain. Better safe than sorry.
Doesn't matter if people are tailgating me, if it starts raining I don't go over the speed limit. And if I can, I avoid the highway. Shifts are always done at 4K rpm. I'm really overprotective of my car in poor Driving conditions, but I prefer this way. There will always be another sunny day to enjoy the car on the next days.

How many times have you gotten up in the morning and said: "Gee, I am really sorry I drove so conservatively last night."
OK, unusual circumstances.

Old Timers INVENTED VTEC!
Reminds me when Ronald Reagan was asked by some school kids how he could govern as when he was growing up he had none of the new technology items as phones, computers etc. He said that was true and wasn't it great his generation invented those things for the new generation to enjoy.
Speed does kill if you look at it a different way, though. If you are given to rhetoric, emphasizing style at the expense of thought; "mere rhetorical frippery" then speed can kill.
S2000 + inclement weather + worn tires + ap1 = disaster waiting to happen. S2000 require good condition tires at all times. even if it was dry. moral of the story is be careful driving. look ahead of you at all times. glad that you are safe and the car is in one piece.
