I've been on this forum for a while. I just picked up my '02 black/black this weekend. I'm feeling the joy watching my status turned from 'Enthusiast' to finally 'owner'. Now I have a car pool question for those of you who lived around the Los Angeles area....
It requires 3 people to get on the car pool lane during the rush hour, and 2 people at all time. My question is, with a 2 seater like the S2000, can I get on the car pool lane with 2 people during the rush hour? Will I get pull over for that?
Normally I wouldn't consider that a question for S2000 Talk, but then again... I suppose it really is. A rather funny one, at that!
Personally? I say go for it. It's not like you can stick a third person in the trunk. I drove into Boston a lot (where there's a carpool lane coming down I-93), and though there's no "3" or "2" lanes, nobody ever got stopped, that I could see.
For all of the carpool lanes and bridges in the Bay Area, two people in a two-seater is enough to qualify, even when the signs say 3 or more people. Why don't you just call your local CHP and ask them?
I assume you're talking about the carpool lane on the 10 freeway. That's the only one I know of that requires 3 people in the LA area. I think you'd probably get pulled over and cited for riding with only 2 people. I wouldn't want to risk the $271 ticket.
