Default Import S2000 from US to Europe

Considering the huge price difference between US and Europe for an S2000 , has anyone from Europe ever imported a US model? Is this possible ? Are there technical issues like differences in petrol that make this impossible ? Regulations issues ? Costs? Thanks for any input.

Be sure to get a 2.0L, the USA/CANADIAN 2.2L versions (starting MY04 I thought and later) have the 8k rpm Jazz/Civic engine

Damned, I cannot find my flamesuit

Just kidding, both car's are equally good! But a 2.0L exists in Europe, the 2.2L does not, so maybe that could give some extra problems? Petrol should be no problem I guess, but I think the whole story can cost you more than getting one in our own little country, my Belgian friend!

The us models do not have the head lamp washers or fog lights that a lot of teh Euro countries require.. What else you would have to deal with I do not know.

Yep, 21% on the pre-tax price of the country where you purchase it plus Belgians pay a one time tax of about $6.000 for the plate. The price I negotiated now is 36,000 euros (7 % rebate on the list price). That's about $ 43,496 for an 06 model. The $6,0000 plate tax plate is unavoidable, so we are looking at $50,000. In the US you pay let's say $32,000 pre tax ? So plus 21 % vat = $37.780. $5,716 diff. Hmm... guess that's not enough to make it pay off.

Head lamp washers is not an issue but fog lights are. Can be attached. Perhaps there are other homologation issues. Oh well, guess we now why it is not done .

Thanks for the input.

Actually headlamp washers ARE an issue. I read somewhere that European directive calls for all cars with HID headlamps to have headlamp washer systems. That was back in 2002 when I lived in the UK and wanted to remove the system....decided against it and had it paint matched (which wasnt a factory option at the time).

I'm curious what the stock ride height difference is between NA and European S2000s - Does anybody know if there are any suspension differences?
