Actually headlamp washers ARE an issue. I read somewhere that European directive calls for all cars with HID headlamps to have headlamp washer systems. That was back in 2002 when I lived in the UK and wanted to remove the system....decided against it and had it paint matched (which wasnt a factory option at the time).
Actually, it COULD be an issue, completely depending on which country you intend to import the car to.

For instance, up to July 2006 headlamp washers and (if necessary) fully automatic headlamp levelling are not required here in Holland. However, due to a law change, after this date all newly registered (thus imported) cars must be fitted with both!! Ouch!!

Take care,

Siepel

PS: When importing, don't forget the warranty issues!! Also, some parts are USDM and EU version specific, could be very troublesome when parts need to be replaced or serviced!!

[QUOTE=ronver,Jan 12 2006, 10:33 PM] Yep, 21% on the pre-tax price of the country where you purchase it plus Belgians pay a one time tax of about $6.000 for the plate.

Don't you have to pay a whole lot of taxes if you bring a car from the US?A
It depends. I know in Spain there are ways around paying taxes either on an import or a car you purchase there (if you are not a citizen). But you have to own it for two years ... no one else can drive it ... etc etc.

Hi Ronver, where in Belgium are you from? I know a big Honda dealer where I can get you a great price for a new MY06 of your choice and I promise you it is way under 36.000 euros! The BIV is almost 5.000 euros, but you will have the car + BIV for less than 40.000 euros. You can mail me if you want more info on this one!
Hi Lionheart, sounds very interesting. I live near Lier close to Antwerp. I have sent an email to your hotmail address. Hope to hear from you soon.
