inexpensive and easy hidden ponies?
Not only get to know your car's handling, the experienced driver will make this car fast. Also breaking in the engine properly is very important. You'll find the engine will becoming stronger around 5,000 mile mark. According to Honda you should not use synthetic oil in the engine until after 7,000 miles. After the 7k mark change your oil to a good 10w-30 synthetic from Mobil, Red Line, or Amsoil (to name a few). Also change your transmission fluid to something like Red Line's MT-90 and the differential fluid to their 75W-90. Test by different companies have proven about a 7% improvement in drivetrain efficiency when changing to synthetics. When comparing hp at the crank to hp at rear wheels rear, there is usually 16% loss. This is just a cheap way to get some of those horses back and without voiding your warranty with a bolt on mod (like NOS). This is just a different approach to gain a few ponies, Honda has done such a great job with this car, you really have to throw some big bucks at it to get some big horse power gains.
Spend as much time as can on this board first, a lot has been tried and only a few of them seem to really work ! Dyno test have proven that.

Half the advice on this and other boards is wrong. Stick around a little while and you'll see disagreements on every subject.
FWIW, I did a dyno with a dirty stock filter, a new JR and a new K&N back to back. The K&N gave me 1.5 hp and the JR brought me down by 1.
You can make your own judgments, but to me, the power increase on the K&N isn't worth the money but I think you can clean it and keep using it where you would have to throw the stock one away.
