Yep, a bitchslap is on his way, but to be fair, he and I discussed about the modification beforehand. Plus, he was very sweet, so a kiss is in order instead.

Xviper is right, it's all one piece and he did cut it, but in a careful and "artful" way that I could screw it back on easily and use some little "tools" along the cut-line. It's very cool and innocuous the way he cut it.

Well, again, thanks for all inputs. I will carefully examine it. BTW, my car hasn't seen the rain in like half a year, so no worries from there yet.

I like all the suggestions about increasing airflow for the CAI. I will have to try some of these ideas.

Bonny, did you try the CAI with AND without that piece? You mentioned a couple of times that the car seems to pull better. That could just be the CAI itself regardless of plastic that may or may not be in the way.

The real question would be which would your friend enjoy more, the kiss or the bitch-slap? If neither is really a punishment then...

Thanks, Xviper! Going by your handle, I suppose you used to own a Viper, huh? What year? What was it like? Must've had crazy low end torque and pull, huh? Very cool!

Anyhoo, I finally put that plastic piece back. However, I did drive in the rain once and I checked that the filter did get somewhat wet. Was it very bad? What do you think could've happened if water did get sucked in the intake manifold? Thanks!
