Ingenious or stupid?
Bonny,
search this sight for hydrolock. It is a phenomena associated with water entering the air intake and eventually ending up in a cylinder. Ad you know water is essentially incompressible. Combine with a piston moving up and down . . . . . . ugly!!
Some people argue that it is almost impossible because it takes a solid column of water. Others disagree. I don't really jump into the mix because I don't want to find out.

My best mileage when stock was 39.9 miles per Canadian gallon.
Believe it or not, another Calgary owner last month, on a holiday drive, stuck at 90 km/hr (55 mph for you) during a very long stretch, managed 46 miles/ Can. gal.
Even with my 4.44s and blower, I can still get 36 (if I wanted to).
