My '02 has about 9,300 miles on it and before I put it into storage I took it to the dealer for a concern I hope maybe someone here knows about. I know what the injectors pulsing / ticking sound like. Normal condition this is ok. But mine has gotten slightly louder as of late where it is actually present in the cabin of the car. Are anyone elses this loud. I looked for a possible exhaust leak up on a rack here at work but found nothing. The car just seems to have gotten louder lately. I don't know maybe my imagination.

I also have MY02 with 9000 miles, I took it in about a month back asking about what I thought was valve noise and they told me that it is a trait of the car. I have looked around on the search function but still cant figure out what is "normal".

To my untrained ear it sounds more like valve noise than the injector ticking but I'll pay close attention next time I go for a drive.

 

Thanks for the response. No problem found at the dealer today. Said normal injector noise with no reason as to why it has gotten louder. Maybe since weather is coldr here in Wisconsin now things are louder - who knows!?!

Does it only happen when it is cold? Could be piston slap in that super cold weather?

 

Mine does it most all the time......Of course it is easiest to hear when driving next to a building or sitting in the garage just above idle
