Your question isnt stupid. People dyno a CAI addition with a normal dyno with a fan blowing at a certain speed to reproduce an actual driving speed...So that the CAI will suck the air out of the fan. Or else a dyno could be done without a fan blowing in front of a car.

For CAI choices, they dont add that much power so any choice is good, like exhausts; you choose the one you prefer...

People always seem to confuse cold air intake with ram air intake.

The ram effect will not show up on a stationary dyno but it is generally a small part of the benefit of a cold air intake.

A cold air intake like the AEM or Injen takes cooler air from a place outside the engine compartment leading to a cooler, denser air/fuel charge (when it works right.) This is easy to dyno merely by comparing stock to CAI.

I bought the Injen CAI based solely on the fact that the piping was polished. I know that both AEM and Injen would provide the same results in HP. I hear that AEM now offers polished piping as well.

why would the exhaust decrease hp? Has anyone else with the neuspeed exhaust noticed this?
