Default Install tips for leather Center Console

The directions are quite good for the install, just wondering if anyone else had some suggestions or tricks to help. I read somewhere that putting Duct Tape on the carpet and then removing it before install helps take off the excess "Mouse hair" that can keep the leather from sticking. Anything else like that I would like to know.

UCrazyKid-

Sorry but I can't help you on this one. I have a red console cover on order so I hope that you get some good input.

Do us all a favor and post a picture and give us some impressions when you are done.

I put on my console cover about 3 weeks ago, and it is a breeze. Rick's directions are easy to follow and lead you through the installation step by step.

Sure makes a big difference to the car's interior!

One of the most important things is do not let the tape stick to itself. If this happens it will not come apart.

Ricks instructions did not call for it and it is NOT at all necessary, but if I were doing it again I would take the extra time to pull the seats out. I little extra elbow room wouldn't hurt.

Taking the "mouse" hair off with duct tape definitely helps. I installed my console cover and shift boot this past weekend - looks marvelous.

All we need now is for Rick to come up with colored leather door inserts!!

prolene did mine for me (and i know that he has done others)...
he might have tips.
one might be that pulling that stereo door off is not easy, and seems like it will break- but it does come off...
prolene- are you out there? any additions to this?

The only additional tip I have is to get some more double sided tape (widely available in auto shops) and apply that where the sides of the leather kit fold down.

Sometimes it is a little bit 'floppy' on the sides and this eliminates that. Seems to sit a little bit more snug over the console.

Be very careful when removing the stereo door. I pulled a little too hard and broke one of the hinges. A dab of epoxy and it works like new but be careful anyway.
