Default Installation Instructions for Rick's S badges....

Can someone clarify the instructions for installation of Rick's S badges?

In the instructins that were mailed to me, at the top of the page, it states...
"Bonding surface must be free of all contaminants (dust, oil, wax, silicones, etc.)"

In paragraph 4 of the instruction, the instructions then state....
"Once the stock badges have been removed, use more of the adhesive remover to clean off any remaining adhesive and dirt, and then do a final cleaning of the surface with alchohol or some other cleaner. We recommend an application of our favorite wax in the badge areas at this point".

The instructions seem to contradict - can anyone explain if I should put wax on the area or not? Thanks.

i agree with bass...
dont wax before putting the badges on- you want everything (including wax) off before installing...
then after installing- wax, polish, buff and admire!

(i zaino the badges too, when zanoing the car)

After using some spray adhesive remover to clean the area I just washed it off with soap and water, and dried it of course, before attaching the badges. I didn't remove the wax (there wasn't much to remove anyway) and my Rick's badges adhered very well.

One word of caution, though, the adhesive on the back side of the badges is strong, so take the time to CAREFULLY center and line up your badge vertically and horizontally or else you could end up with an ugly looking crooked badge.

Do it right and the results are beautiful! Other than my custom yellow leather interior items, the badges are my favorite Rick's mods. Rick and I have had our differences over certain things, but the beauty of his products isn't one of them! Props to Rick for that.

Thanks for the help everyone. That clears the problem up. If it is warm this weekend, I want to install the badges. The instructions also say you have to be in 70 degree weather. I may have to wait until summer to install!

If you can catch him ra, check with Rick about that. It may suffice to fake the air temp by warming up the badge and surface lightly with a hair dryer.
