I didn't come across any instructions for this, so I thought I'd do a writeup for the archives.
Difficulty - 2/10
Time - about 1 hour
Tools - Ratchet wrench with 10mm socket
Here are the parts....
'02 backing plate - 46991-S2A-A02
'02 deadpedal - 46992-S2A-010
Step 1 - Remove your floor mat and move the driver's seat all the way back to give you room to work. Those of you with more "robust" figures may want to remove the driver's seat entirely.
Step 2 - Use 10mm ratchet to remove the two black bolts that hold the old dead pedal in place.
Step 3 - Remove the door sill trim with the "Manufactured by Honda" plate on it. It is held in place by three clips.
Step 4 - Remove the left side footwell trim. It is held in place by three clips. (see below)
This small white clip is hidden under the rubber door weatherproofing.
This dark grey clip, located past the dead pedal position, was very hard to remove for me, but it will come off.
Here is the piece after removal. You will probably need to pull the hood latch to get the trim piece removed. This will open your hood, so remember to close it when you're done.
Step 5- Peel the carpet back enough to expose the old bracket. Use the 10mm ratchet to remove the three bolts that attach the base plate to the left side of the car. An extension bar will help, but is not absolutely necessary.
With the old bracket and pedal removed, you can see the difference between the old and new parts. The old base plate has threaded holes for the old pedal to bolt into. The new base plate has larger rectangular holes that the new pedal snaps into.
Step 6 - Bolt in the new bracket and put the carpet and trim pieces back into place. There is no need to cut the carpet.
Step 7 - Put the new dead pedal in place, clipping it into the rectangular holes of the base plate.
Step 8 - Test the new pedal. Oooh, how nice!
Step 9 - Don't forget to close the hood!!
