Seems very strange that some S2Ks have the hood insulation while others may not. There was a thread about benefits of it at one time, and the thought was that the insulation may protect the hood paint from discoloring from engine compartment heat.

My Scarlet has it. In fact, I had to get a new one! I was a complete idiot (what else is new) and forgot to put the oil filler cap back on after checking the oil once while getting gas. Luckily, I left the cap on the valve cover, so the closed hood kept it in place until I realized that I had left it off. Oil had sprayed all over the insulation and looked like CRAP!

BTW, if you need one, H and A Accessories can score you one for about 45 bucks!

The only reason you don't have insulation is because someone took it off. The cars all have insulation from the factory.

My '00 has insulation.

Just run out for the color code (cthree needed that) and my Y-52P '01MY has the underhood padding as well!

yeah i know i just check my 00s2k a few moments ago, no insulation. thats one change many of us overlooked huh? whoops so thats why. sorry i didnt read previous posts.

My red '00 has it.

Just checked my 00 red and it has the insulation. It looks really easy to install, if you don;t have it. Looks like a bunch of plastic clips are all that's needed fro installation.
