Default Insurance Costs for an S2000

When we joke, "Thanks for increasing our insurance rates," I guess that's no joke.

Our premium for our AP1 kept creeping up over the years. To the point where it was more expensive to insure than our RS4.

We picked up a new 08 CR for $27,500 this weekend and I was bracing myself for a crazy premium quote when calling State Farm today.

You know what? It was literally HALF the cost to insure. $43 per month rather than the > $100.

It can't be due to theft and vandalism, because I wouldn't think that'd change over the model years... which leads me to think that the insurance hikes for older S2000s are largely due to the types of people purchasing (and wrecking) the poor AP1s....

So the moral of the story: Spend money on good tires / snow tires and maybe you won't have to pay higher insurance rates and deductibles.

You mean all the kids slashing their own tops and putting their seats in a friends garage.

I recently got insurance on my "new" AP1 and it was over $260/mo. for full coverage. The car is paid off too. Insurance for my previous car which was a leased 2007 Miata was about $168/mo. for full coverage. Granted that I do have a ticket for speeding over 100mph. Lol. Now I just get liability w/UM for $477/6mo.

i pay $172/month on my 05, but I'm 21 - clean driving record however.

I'm sure there are a lot more claims on earlier vehicles simply because they have been on the road longer.

^$108 definitely isn't bad for a newer CR. also meant to note that I have my insurance thru Geico.

2001 NFR, 21 no tickets, one accident that was my fault one that wasn't... I pay $142/month for full coverage ($500 deductible)... in New Jersey... I don't see how everyone is paying so much... I actually paid more for my 03 RSX type S when I had it... $164/month with a $1000 deductible.
