Check with Allstate. I'm 28, married and pay just over $800/year. My 2001 20th Anniversary Maxima was about $100 higher per year than my S2000. No accidents or tickets in over 5 years, but originally went with Allstate when I first got married and we both had tickets. They were much cheaper than other companies I've checked. Hope this helps.

Ok Thoe first off Matt only gets his insurance that low because as you may have noticed he says, "we have all our stuff through Allstate." He is on his parents insurance plan, not his own. If he were, like you, he too would be slaughtered.

Secondly I too live in Houston and just turned 25. I have a mass amount of speeding tickets on my record....what can I say, I love speed. With all my tickets and with me turning 25 and my insurance dropping drastically I am still going to be paying something like $750 every six months for full coverage with State Farm as soon as I get my S2000. You just have to realize you live in a shiaty state for car insurance. The state of Texas just gave insurance companies the authority to raise their rates on EVERYTHING to make up for Hurrican Allison, which I am sure you remember from last year. The insurance companies lost so much dinero that somehow they have swindled their way to rate hikes. You and I and all Texans will suffer from this. The only thing we can do is hope that it ends quickly. If I were to give you a recommendation I would check out State Farm and Allstate for sure if you haven't already. I will always be with State Farm because I have had many claims in the past and have not been hasled yet. They will continue to get my business.

BTW may I say that you are one lucky 20 year old if you are going to have an S2000. If you worked for it and earned it yourself much congrats, if the parentals got it for you congrats as well. Enjoy every minute of it. Take care.

Yes, I remembered the 18 wheelers looking small under the flood! What a site! Anyways, I will try Allstate and State Farm in the next couple days. What were your rates before you turned 25?

Btw, I will be 21 by the time I get the S2000 next summer. I would get it this year, but don't have enough money. I'm working two jobs (hours and hours per week), some freelancing contract jobs on the side, and doing website updates, just to save up for this car. Parents cannot afford to help me buy this car either. That's why insurance is gonna take a hit on me if its anymore than 3k/yr (3k is still pushing it, but manageable), according to my "ultimate" planned budget (yep, I have this all well planned out, financially Not too many parents think optimistically of young people buying 30k+ cars.

If I hear confirmations from Honda improving the S2000 engine-wise in the future, I will wait, but so far, nothing. I've only heard rumors, one of which the S2000 might have a better higher torqued 2.2L engine in the future.

How right you are sir. I talked with my Dad last weekend, told him what I was considering, and even at 25 he steal frowns upon me getting this car. He doesn't think its enough car for $30-35k. I told him that it must be good then since he wont be paying for it or driving it.

Try State Farm. I am also 20 and pay $2,200 a year in New York. They have a "Good Student Discount". You said that you have good grades so you should have no problem getting this coverage. The drop is dramatic. Something like $700+ for every six months! I think you need a 3.0 or better. So if you have the GPA give them a call.
Good luck

My advice: GET MARRIED!

It significantly will reduce your insurance costs. While at the same time increasing OTHER costs.

$415/6 months 25, married & house on the same policy = much lower rate.
