Insuring the $2K
Well I'm on the other end of the Insurance issue. I have a Bodyshop and have to deal with how these companies handle their claims. My personal cars are insured through Cincinati who has the best claims process out there. They won't use Aftermarket or generic parts, they don't require used parts and they allow the shop to do the best repair process they can without interfering. Another good one in Farm Bureau, I won't go into who is bad but you need to ask them what you will get if, God forbid, your car gets damaged. You don't want run arounds and you don't want bad service, and some of the big boys only care about one thing and that's a cost efficient claim. Make sure you add towing on to your premium, it's only a couple of extra bucks a year and well worth it if you need it.
Just north of Richmond, VA and south of DC - I use Nationwide and pay about $650 a year with $500 deductible (I also joined the Car Club through Whitney that costs $6 a month but includes a gas card that saves 10% on gas purchases up to $100 a month...so it pays for itself, saves you a few bucks, has a deductible coverage in case you do have an accident, and offers lots of other services!)
($30 a year more for the Stook than I paid for my '98 Mustang GT Convertible 4.6L)

This topic intests and scares me. I just changed my insurance and it now costs me $720 per year to insure the S2K in the Chicago area (29 and still married for a few more months), along with my 96 GSR as my other car. The thing is that my GSR is costing me more at $840 per month than the S2K even though I said my S2K is the primary vehicle. The premium didn't go down on the GSR after the switch, so I think they screwed up but I'm kinda afraid to ask and get the real bill.
Wondering what to do,

The price of insurance is highly dependant on the area you live in. I moved from PA to TX (Thank God!
), and my insurance for the same cars almost doubled. I about sh%t, when the told me the price. I'm shopping around and found that is just the going rate in Austin. Bummer

Im going to have to just eat it for one year until I turn 25. My driving record MUST stay clean. I will probably pay close to $2000 this year for insurance. The area I live in is close to chicago so that's a big factor. If there is a 2002 model...maybe I should wait for that one? Hmmm....choices choices!
wow

i third nationwide. after seeing a similiar post by VAS2K, i switched from progressive to nationwide. progressive wanted to charge me $2900/year for my 94 Integra and the s2k. i am 24(about to turn 25) and nationwide ended up being $2200/year with better coverage. 100/300/100 and a 500 dollar deductable. not the greatest but i have a ticket and a major on my record from about 4 and a half years ago which they said they look at. after 5 they disregard it

You guys should thank god every morning you don't live in Jersey...land of skyrocketing insurance prices. My car is under my fathers name for insurance purposes. He pays 1300per year and he's 64 and has never had an accident or ticket. That's insane when you consider 26yr olds elsewhere pay the same =)
