Intake Gains

Most likely harmonics. Gains with a N/A setup are harder to come by than an F/I setup. This is why turbo and supercharger plumbing is kept as short as possible, get the air in as fast as possible with minimal pressure loss. The effect of harmonics are far less noticeable and can be disregarded (for the most part) when running forced induction. A well (or poorly) designed intake will have a much bigger impact on a naturally aspirated setup. The length of the pipe leads me to believe that this intake caters to low rpm power. I wonder how much engineering really went into its design...
With a shorter run, you will have less of a static pressure drop (friction).
Is turbulance an issue entering the plenum
If so, that could explain the long run. I believe you need 4 diameter lengths, to "calm the air".
