As stated, if you order engraved patter the masking tape stays on so it is simple to spray paint whatever color you want. I painted my alum pattern the same color as the seats and the front "H". This time I'm going to use a bright red...

Would a few individuals who have posted their enthusiasm for the opportunity to purchase a $175 shift knob, please briefly describe the benefit(s) of this knob vs. stock. The concept of a reducing the travel space between gears is one I understand. However, the throws are already unbelivealby short in my 04 that I find it hard to justify that shifting with the voodoo ti knob is noticeably enhanced merely by a knob that is 1" lower unless there are related benefits such as the knob provides an enhanced grip and/or the size and shape is easier to control during gear shifts.

After reading many of the posts, I get a feeling that some buyers are excited for reasons unrelated to increasing shift speeds. Is part of the excitement related to owning a knob that is unique or one that helps customize the interior appearance or provide another item to post under the owner's signature?

Perhaps, it incorporates all of the above. If so, what percentage of most everyone's desire is based simply on improving shift speeds?

If there are significant performance reasons and experiences justifying the price, then I am willing to help finalize the initial PO requirement.

Personally, I think the style and size of the knob is awesome. But that fact by itself does not justify the high price.

Any information provided would be sincerely appreciated.

Well, the knob is weighted. From what I've read, it feels great. I don't know about $175 great...I assume it's mostly bling. Never the less, I'm in for one!

I'd prefer the shorter shift (I know the s2k already is short throw, but a little more would be nice).
And also for the feel of the larger, heavier knob. I drove my buddies car once with one and modified my prelude shortly after. So, now I'm doing the same with my s2k.

And yeah, the price tag definitely hurts your wallet a bit more than I'd like, but, I'm also looking at it as probably my best shot for a while to get one of these at this price.

I'm not really doing it to brag or just for-flash, but I guess some people might do it for those reasons. I mean, enthusiasts will recognize it fairly quick.

I'm interested primarily for the shorter shift, heavier weight, and looks/clean appearance. I'm not a bling type of guy and I don't list any mods in my signature. In fact, this may be one of the only look-oriented mods I do to my car other than some new wheels (I'm not presently planning on lowering my car either). Is the price a touch high for a shifter? Perhaps, but this is one of the better looking shift knobs out there IMHO and the price is worth it to me. YMMV. Good luck deciding.

Wow... I don't even have my S yet and I'm tempted to buy one of these... Hopefully, if all goes well, I'll have the car by next weekend. *crossing my fingers*

Thanks to to everyone for sharing your viewpoints. It is late, so I am leaving my office and will sleep on the matter. Perhaps with the 6-speed engraving, the enhanced style and maybe a slight improvement in shift speed would be a fun aspect to enjoy.

The price is certainly high but a decent meal and a few drinks with a date is virtually the same expense or very close. And, as one S owner being of sound but sick mind, I could at least respect the knob in the morning!

I will post my decision tomorrow afternoon. Again, many thanks for the replies.

I have no idea what's going on with the clear diffusers. Rick and Stratocaster stopped updating. Things are looking grim.

That sucks. I think that Don (DJAdams in Rio Linda) made his own clear diffusers - could you do that instead or is it too difficult?
