You guys are really harsh... one of the main reasons i like this board so much is because it didn't have all the bullshit of the other boards and the keyboard commando's that smash people behind the safety of their screen. I assume that a lot of the people posting against this guy are older...that may or may not be true....there is nothing wrong with personallizing the car and as far as it being a purest car or that people should not use nav.... well in Japan where the car comes from (about as purest as you can get) the S2000 comes with a screen and nav. right in the center of the dash.

Now on the other hand, i've got to say that i don't see the point in putting a nav. system in the visors as it would be next to impossible to look at these while driving safely...as a person who had considered the visor idea (for dvd only) and has gone to multiple strereo shops for suggestions...i've got to say that the best suggestion would probably be to get it done right and have it done in the dash (look at MikeS2K's pics)... it looks just like the Jap. OEM S2000...this is the only place i can see that nav. would actually be functional. As far as using an Xbox... i dunno but it's not going to take up any more room or weigh more than a large speaker/sub so i don't see why not although i doubt it will be used much..but hey, who cares... BTW: after much checking the entire dash piece is replaceable for $360.... we can all be smartasses (try me..i'm a pro ) but i think that's really getting away from the overall feel of this board that has been one of the most helpfull resources i have ever had on any car i've owned...

Every person who turns their S2000 into a "Glorified Civic" diminishes the reputation of the car for all of us.

Can they do what they want with their cars? Sure. I just feel that they should be discouraged as much as possible.

Fare enough...just thought it was a bit harsh....just out of curiosity how do you view the idea of putting the screen in the dash like they have in Japan?

It's kind of off-topic, but I have used the nav systems on rental cars several times. They are pretty worthless, IMHO...the maps were often inaccurate (sometimes even on interstates, which should be easy) and many smaller roads weren't available. I read somewhere that the maps which are used to create the map CDs are 10-15 years old, which explains why most of my particular city is blank. One business that I tried to find was mislocated by 8 miles.

In Japan, it may be more useful. The naming of streets and numbering of houses is haphazard, so if the map CDs are new enough, it would really help.

I know that nav systems are a big fad in the import community, but I really wonder how often they get used.

I have no problem with someone retrofitting the car to Japan spec with the actual japanese parts although it will actually devalue the car as a collectors piece.

Don't sell Brandon short. Remember Rick's console cover? It's now standard equipment. Maybe brandon is a trend setter, too; maybe not.

Indeed.

I will agree with Bieg, in that the harshness has to and must stop immediately. Thank you.

Although... I don't know, Bieg... we all know you're passionate about the S2000 and its purpose on this planet, but you've got to accept that people will buy it and do what they want with a car they paid for themselves. I guess I turn your attention to your "glorified Civic comment," as a case-in-point.

You may see it as shameful, but others won't.
