true...real enthusiasts will understand that brand does not constitute the best. let's face it guys, there's always a faster car out there for different applications, but which is more pleasing and inspiring to do it in? for an old car, the s2000 is pretty decent at everything if you ask me.

Some fun quotes from the thread:

I'm pretty sure you can get a 10,000 redline with a chip on the ap1 correct?
AP2's will always come out in front of an AP1 just as a 330 will always come out in front of a 328(stock vs. stock). AP2's are not detuned and actually have ~40ft/lbs of torque than a AP1.
I wouldn't touch an S2K. Why? I'm not 12. Yeah yeah they're "cool" and all but I've been out of high school quite a while.
This is why I usually avoid "BMW people". Although I know a few cool BMW owners, the vast majority are arrogant douche-tards that bought into the "ultimate driving machine" marketing.

Toyota MR2 and NC Miata also have this Z shaped top - it's a good design.
Honda should have redesigned the top for the AP2 IMO. The Z fold looks so much cleaner.

I happened to go all out with a 335i.... almost i guess?
I was just keeping up with him at 6~7k rpm. I've got a turbo kit so i guess this isn't very stock vs stock.

maybe he wasn't going ALL OUT also. or maybe he was?

I have many friends with beamer and they all like my s2k. kinda jealous acutally.

You should have been able to take him, no? Unless he wasn't stock.

I have always thought one of the most fun cars I have driven was a Z4 M Coupe. This coming from my SC'd RSX Type-S, Porsche 993 and now the S2k. I also drove a 400+hp Turbo RSX which was a bit scary on the street. I have yet to test drive a 3-series which makes me want to go test driving sometime soon. =)

When I was getting into my car at Autozone, a guy in his 40s (I'm 25) asked me how I liked the car and I responded positively. He said he had a Z4 of the same color and he hates it. I have only gotten compliments from BMW owners in my area, which is mostly upper middle class small business owners.

That's also because in _person_ people conduct themselves different.

Most of the online loudmouths are nobodies with a chip on their shoulder, that finally have an outlet to make a bunch of noise, and even though they carp about "saying/acting the same way in real life" we all know that's +bunk+.

Every BMW driver I've met in person was - or least put on the pretense of being - a pretty friendly individual, especially anyone I've talked to at driving events.

This.

Unless you're referring to 350Z/Cobalt SS/SRT4 drivers. They're just douche bags.

Why get caught up in this drama?
Why does it matter what others think about the S?

This threads pop up every now and again I and I can only figure people actually care about what others say. This thread is a waste of brand width.
