Seems like the mirror rattle wants to come back. After the bolt tightening, it was back in a few weeks. So in February I took it apart again, this time stuffing the void with foam, and covering parts that might rattle against each other with duct tape. Tightened everything real well.

Really proud of myself. Took the car over washboard roads. Rock solid!

Now it's back!

Any one out there with any better ideas?

Ray

Put some Loctite Blue on the threads (not too much, just a medium-sized drop to coat the threads will do it). This will prevent the screws/bolts from backing out.

Don't know what they're going to do to stop it re-occuring though.

They're also replacing the seat base leather as it has discoloured unevenly. One of the panels is bright red and the others dull.
I had the same seatbelt / leather rubbing. I puchased some adhesive felt and placed a small piece of it right in front of the seat belt guide. Solved the problem and its not very apparent since the seat belt covers it up.

Apparently the ford explorer had the same seatbelt rubbing problem and now come with felt from the factory.

I got my '01 with 52k miles on her. I had squeeks everywhere! After reading all of this, it inspired me to go try to correct some of them, so I just did all of this 5 mins ago.

The wind deflector stopped rattling when I put my hand on it, so i put some lube on the part that contacts the base and moved it into positon/out of position to evenly coat the areas that touched.

The passenger side visor seemed to rattle, so I lubed the contact points that move.

My driver's side mirror seems to be rattling also, but I'm not about to crack open my door anytime soon. I'm confident I can do it, but I'll get around to it later.

When I picked my '04 up and drove it 250 miles home, I got to sit through 3 1/2 hours of a rattling noise coming from behind the driver's seat somewhere. It sounded like I had a screw loose, so to speak, because I could hear it roll around also. So, the next day, I took the spare tire out and went hunting for the little SOB. I took the liner off to the left of the spare tire and wouldn't you know, I could see a brand new, shiney, 10mm bolt sitting in there behind the gas filler tube. I reached in there with my hand and got it out. I then put everything back the way it was and took it for a drive. Unfortunately, there is another one in there somewhere rattling around and I can't find it. it's driving me nuts. I don't know who thought it'd be funny to drop a box of bolts in my car, but it's pissing me off.
