Default Invidia exhaust

I work with a guy that had an S until last year, when he let some drunk girl drive it and she totalled it. He's parted out all of the aftermarket items that weren't damaged, and one of them is the Invidia exhaust. I never heard it on the car, but he claims it does NOT sound like a fartcan.

I can buy it, with less than 1000 miles on it for $300. Is it worth it? I've listened to soundclips on-line, but they just aren't very impressive through laptop speakers.

My worst fear is turning my S into a ricer. Please advise.

Thanks.

Find someone local to you with the exhaust and go listen to it. Ask for a ride.

First off that drunk girl better be hot! Also he better have gotten laid for letting her drive the car!!!

No the invidia does not sound ricey... But it is *%$#&$% loud!!! Alot of people run it with silencer for a deep tone that is still noticeable...

Not hot at all. She's a pig, and married to another guy at work. They didn't even offer to pay the guy for damages to his or the other vehicles involved. His own insurance took it all. It was a very sad story, and it always reminds me that when someone says "let me drive, nothing will happen".......

NO F-ING WAY!

A friend of mine has a '05 Mustang GT conv. that he put flowmaster exhaust on. It sounds good, but after about a half an hour in the car it makes you want to jump out at 70mph.

I like to be able to take a long road trips without the thing pounding on my brain.

Is it that loud?

i'm in the same position as you.. from what i hear is that they are pretty loud, but the worst part is the drone when cruising at 3-4k's.. you can barely have a conversation.. supposedly with the silencers on, it's okay and eliminates the drone..
I still want to hear one in person also.. clips just don't do it..

i have heard it once. it sounds great. great deep sound, no farting sounud. it is crazy loud though. if your friends mustang bothers you this exhaust probaly will after a while. when excelerating with the top down you cant talk because it was too loud. i would not get it. i love the sound but it is just way too loud.

I had an Invidia cat back on my '01. I did not pick the exhaust as it was on my car when I bought it. Let me tell you.....this exhaust is LOUD!! My wife and I drove to Corpus (3 hours). It took another 3 hours for my ears to quit ringing. I bought the silencers and put them in. It was much quieter but I think the performance suffers with the silencers. I found another deal on an A'PEXi cat back. I don't know how much power this gives, but the sound is much better. It has a deep throat sound without the deafening resonance.

There are options on the Invidia. There was a thread about putting a capped pipe about a foot long perpendicular to the exhaust pipe after the resonator. (whew...that sentence was long) There was a special name for it.."Hierholm generator"...something like that. This pipe will help eliminate a lot of the resonances. I also heard installing a test pipe will eliminate some resonance.

Ohh...and the Invidia does not sound ricey...it sounds like a couple CBRs at 9000.

I say no, driving behind an S2K with that exhaust makes me want to just ram his car so I can shut that shit up. Can't imagine being in the car with that exhaust, annoying as f*ck.
