Invidia exhaust

Well, I guess that does it for the Invidia. I'd rather spend more money to get something else. What I want is something that growls when you wind it up, without too much drone at cruising speed.
Impossible?
Impossible?
This thread is a start to enjoying both your exhaust and your stereo ...

For $300 you can try the invidia out and if you can't get it to work for you, you can easily get rid of it for what you paid for it.

I bought an invidia. The quality looks great. I had an Apexi N1 on my Civic Si and personally it was junk compared to the Invidia. I'll never buy an Apexi product again.
The Invidia is moderately loud. It's probably quieter than some of the other cars I've owned (WRX, '71 Z28, Firehawk). I really don't think the exterior noise levels are all that loud, atleast not with the cat in place. The problem is the resonation which makes the interior noise levels EXTERMELY loud at certain RPMs.
The good news is that with the silencers, the interior resonation is pretty much gone, and the exterior volume goes to one or two steps above stock. For $300, I'd give it a try with the silencers.
I just added a test pipe. With the silencers in it gained a little bit of exterior volume (which is good, because it's pretty quiet with the silencers in). With the silencers out it also gained some exterior volume, but the interior volume was reduced significantly. There is still a small band (2800 - 3200) where it still resonates or booms a bit though. But man it sounds unbelieveably sweet.
So I say go for it. Drive around during the week with the silencers in, then when you go cruising on the weekends, or to the autocross pull them out. It's the best of both worlds.
As for it sounding ricey.... definately not ricey. My buddy is a die hard domestic fan. He owns a corvette. He HATED my civic si because it sounded like a "can of bees". When I told him I was putting an exhaust system on the S2000 he said "oh great, here comes the can of bees". I put the invidia on and took him for a ride with and without the silencers. I also did a couple drive bys. He loved it and begged me to keep the silencers out.
spugen makes some nice systems for good prices. on my ap1 a had a spugen single then went to the invidia. i got it from roja_boy. the resonator was split so i eventually installed the stock one, that helped alot with the drone but still sounded great. now i have an ap2 and its bone stock til next week

take em off it sounds awesome
$300.00. DO IT MAANN! I've had mine for a year now. I thought the same thing at first that it was way too loud. But then I let a friend do some passes to see how it sounded from a distance outside the car and I almost lost my mind. The way it HOWLS, especially when I hit VTEC is F@#%ING SWEET!I used to swap silencers until I went through my first tunnel w/o the silencers. Since then, I've forgotten all about those restrictive pieces of crap! Now I get excited every time I come up on overpasses and tunnels. This was by far my best mod to date. I get props all the time for the way it sounds as well as it's looks. Oh, as for the drone, Install I.C.E. with bad azz subs! Problem solved.
