The S2 definitely will out perform the IS300. However, I still appreciate the Altezza. I've seen pics of those cars with full body kits and turbos, and man they are nice.

Different cars, different purposes. I, for one, like the IS300. nice ride.

The S2000 is a drop-top sports car and the IS300 is a sporty sedan, a la BMW 3-series which is what the car was targeted after. The Lexus is more luxurious and comfortable and the S2000 is more sporty, can't really compare the two. HOWEVER, before you guys say that there is NO chance that an IS300 can keep up with a S2000 at the track, why don't you ask the 13 S2000s at the Oceanside meet how My Fc3s (2nd generation RX-7) faired against them?...all I have is front strut bar and also a passenger. So don't under estimate the difference a driver can make (not that I'm saying I am a good driver). Because, out of 13 S2000s, only 2 of them were driving at my pace and if any of you guys doubt what happened, i'm always down for another good oceanside drive...all in good fun.

Lexus IS300 ... No performance plus no handling capabilities, in fact if you ever bump into a race with the top of the line flagship - JDM Toyota Altezza T280 Tom's Limited you don't even have to be afraid of it. Haven't you seen the review from Best Motoring Japan about the poor handling capabities and poor torque figures of this type of car?

Well the question is obviously asked with the condition that the drivers are of equal skill level. Heck, with a bad driver a Ford Escort could take out an S2000, but that's not what the question is...with similarly skilled drivers, the S2000 will leave the IS300 in the dust easily.

Silly question, perhaps, however.... let's not get too hot-headed, folks.

This is very true. When it comes to attributes of a sports car, the S2000 has many advantages over the IS300. However, what I was merely pointing out is if a 11 year old RX-7 can fair well against the S2000, don't be THAT confident against the IS300. I mean, it's not a Civic, the car performs well. In Japan, the Altezza is one of the cars of choice when it comes to drifting, and does well at the track. Of course, with equal drivers the S2000 will win, but don't discredit a great car (the IS300).
