Isn't that our "Engine Start" button?

why spend alot of money developing a unique starter button when you can raid the parts bin of other manufacturers (that build on a economy of scale) so you can spend the extra money on other parts!
Is the entire starter button in the S2000 really a Honda product? It's VERY possible that it's a rebadged something else. Most of parts are outsourced outside of Honda (I'm talking about "parts within the parts" like the plastic button piece might be from DuPont or something, but the inner mechanical/eletrical technology might be from Honda).
That way, since what you see is mostly the red button, everywhere you see it, you think it's an S2000 starter.

I very much doubt that Honda rebadged another company's start button...
When S2000 was revealed the first time, Honda executives wore pins that had the red start engine button picture on them. It was like an "icon" of the car at the time.
I'm sure that the button has existed for a long time. It may have been used in small gas operated equipment like riding lawnmowers ,golf carts etc. Weather Honda produces this button themselves or buys aftermarket , I don't know. I'm guessing aftermarket.
Regardless, I'm confident that the switch is not made by Honda. Why would they take up making switch gear for one part? It's outsourced. For example, do you think that Honda makes any of the lighting on their products. Look closely, you will see it is all made by Stanley Electric.
Car companies design and assemble cars. They actually manufacture very few of the parts themselves. They actually do the design on some of the parts themselves and they are manufactured by suppliers. Other parts are designed and manufactured by suppliers to the car comapany's specs.
